Springboro Panthers Touchdown Club
A UX Writing project in progress
A new game plan
For the past 2 years, I have worked as the Content Designer on the website for the Touchdown Club- the booster club for the Springboro High School football team.
The website was created as a place for the community to learn about upcoming events like volunteering opportunities, fundraisers, and sponsorship prospects. I want to change this and take the Touchdown Club’s website to the next level!
Context
Product and Audience
The Touchdown Club is the booster club for the Springboro High School football team. The club has a dedicated website that caters to parents, players, coaches, community members and local businesses who support the team through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, and fundraising.
The website’s limited purpose is to notify parents and community members of upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and sponsorships. I want to change this and take the Touchdown Club’s website into this century!
My Role
I am the Content Designer on the website for the Touchdown Club.
There are 3 of us that work on the site and my primary role is the UX writer. I work closely with the board of directors (the stakeholders) who place several constraints on the project. My input so far has been:
Updating the order form.
Creating push notifications.
Updating the Coming Soon page.
Challenges:
Gaining sponsorship- We want more local businesses to advertise their company through signs in our stadium or merchandise in our concession stand.
Difficulty ordering online- The forms on the website are not interactive and are meant to be printed and handwritten. This is inconvenient and prone to errors.
Exposure- We need more website traffic to increase revenue for the team.
Overcoming constraints-
Functionality- No interactive elements on the site (forms must be printed and mailed).
Images- No pictures of the players or scores (the Facebook page handles this).
Payments- Payments cannot be applied on the site.
Approach:
Create a Coming Soon page to display each year before the final sponsorship pricing has been determined. This will keep customers updated and give them an action to take should they need different information.
A streamlined order process that reduces errors and friction. An interactive order form that allows customers to input the order directly on the site and pay will save time for customers and decrease errors.
Push notifications so previous sponsors know when to return to the site to sign up for the new season.

Learnings:
To use as few words as possible for notifications and to always use a call to action.
Coming Soon pages need to keep users updated on the status of the page and a way to get information.
Forms should only included necessary information and use elements to reduce errors and friction.
